Launching Zaptec Go 2: Redefining EV charging with precision and innovation

Sandnes, Norway, 18th of February 2025 – Zaptec, a leading European innovator in electric vehicle charging solutions, has launched its latest product, the Zaptec Go 2. The EV charger will be available in Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands, as these are European markets with the highest advanced regulatory standards and demand for precise charging solutions. Expansion to additional countries is planned for second half of 2025.

Zaptec Go 2 and Polestar

The Zaptec Go 2 stands out with its commitment to design, ready to evolve with upcoming technological advances such as bidirectional charging with vehicle-to-grid (V2G). At launch, it boasts several key features, and thanks to its over-the-air connection, more updates are planned.

Accurate energy monitoring with MID-certified charging

The MID-certified charger includes a built-in display among the Zaptec Go 2's core features. MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) certification ensures precise, bi-directional energy measurement, providing suppliers and consumers with the assurance of accurate billing. In practical terms, this means:

  • Billing accuracy: Particularly crucial for public charging stations or shared residential setups, where multiple users may share the same charging point. MID certification guarantees accurate tracking and billing.
  • Legal compliance: In many European countries, including Germany, Switzerland and the Benelux countries, MID-certified devices are required for public charging stations, making the Zaptec Go 2 a strong contender in the growing EV infrastructure market.
  • Business opportunities: For companies such as Zaptec, this certification simplifies entry into markets that demand precise measurement and billing solutions.
  • Consumer trust: With accurate measurements, consumers can be confident they are being billed fairly, fostering greater trust in the product and the Zaptec brand.

Future-ready features: Solar integration and Vehicle-to-Grid ready

One of the standout aspects of the Zaptec Go 2 is its future-ready capabilities. At launch, the charger will offer automatic switching between 1-phase and 3-phase charging, ensuring optimal energy use from day one. Planned updates will later introduce solar integration to further enhance energy efficiency.

Another major update is support for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. V2G will allow compatible electric vehicles to act as energy storage units, feeding power back into the grid during peak times. With this feature, Zaptec Go 2 helps stabilise the power supply and reduce the strain on the grid, especially during periods of high demand.

Enhanced connectivity with OCPP support

Zaptec Go 2 is designed for seamless integration, featuring OCPP support to ensure compatibility with a wide range of charging networks and backend systems. This open communication protocol allows greater flexibility, making it easier for Charge Point Operators to monitor, manage, and optimise charging sessions.

A product for tomorrow's EV market

As the electric vehicle market expands rapidly, the demand for precise energy measurement and billing solutions is only expected to grow. With its MID certification, the Zaptec Go 2 meets current regulatory requirements and is designed to adapt to future technologies. This positions Zaptec as a leader in delivering safe, high-quality, compliant charging solutions to present and future needs.
